A note to potential sponsor:
Every horse needs several sponsors to fully fund their care, averaging $300 per month at Dove Creek Equine Rescue.
Apache is a 5-year-old black gelding with a kind and gentle personality who came from another rescue near Canton, TX in May 2018. He came in with another compromised mare “Dory” - who did not make it. Always a heart breaking situation, especially because Apache was so connected to Dory. They were both previously neglected and malnourished as colts which is what landed them in a rescue, but also created various medical issues - primarily a severe tooth abscess for Apache. We had it pulled and he is now in rehab, being treated on a daily basis by Dove Creek Staff. Although tooth issues can be a slow recovery, Apache is improving daily, receiving lots of attention from the volunteers and staff at Dove Creek. He gets a second chance at a new life full of health and promise for a bright future, coming from challenging and heart wrenching circumstances.
UPDATE: Apache’s tooth and jaw issue have healed and he is on his way to a better life. He is now in the herd - learning social skills and roaming on the grassy plains and canyon lands. Soon he will enter the training program. This is a horse who has come from the trenches, gained his weight back and is now running with the big boys! Stay tuned on this guy.
