A note to potential sponsor:
Every horse needs several sponsors to fully fund their care, averaging $300 per month at Dove Creek Equine Rescue.
Frosty is a beautiful 16 year old grey Arabian/Paint gelding who arrived at Dove Creek in the late summer of 2018 as a surrender from Clovis, NM. His owner had passed away and his request was for Frosty to be a “therapy” horse somewhere that had a program helping people using horses. We were contacted and now he is here and acclimating within the herd. With great loss there are always strong attachments to the animals the deceased person loved and Frosty was certainly loved by his previous owner. His wife and daughter were torn by having to find him a new home, but also wanted to honor his wishes. We strive to make this transition as smooth as possible so the healthy and loving environment we provide for horses helps soothe the hearts and minds of the family surrendering the horse considerable. Frosty has bonded with a Paint (Prancer) who arrived the day after he did to dove Creek. It’s fun to see them prancing and roaming out in the valley because of they bright coloring but especially his snow white coat, hence the name “Frosty”! The volunteers have been working with him and say he is a gentle one, with his soft eye and calm nature. We look forward to Frosty entering the Equine Assisted Healing Program and see what gifts he brings to this new role of his.
