Clara is an 19yo (2005) Quarter Horse mare who came to DCER in June of 2023. Clara was found by the landlord that discovered his tenant had left the home. The tenant abandoned multiple goats, donkeys, and Clara. She was left in a small pen with no food for 3 weeks before the landlord found her but thankfully she survived the severe storms and starvation. The landlord was desperate to find help for her and reached out to DCER to rescue her. Clara has gained her weight back, and has show tremendous steadiness under saddle.  She was showcased with our trainer, Sarah, at our Oct 2023 Sunset dinner riding around the crowd of 300 people with ease and grace.  Clara gets along with other horses well, trailer loads, stands for farrier, and will be a delight for someone who wants a steady sound mare for trail riding. She is ready for her new home!
