Daisy

Daisy is a 12yo grade Quarter Horse mare who was rescued from a kill pen by a family that was dedicated to rehabilitating her fear of humans and recovering from what they believed to be severe trauma. The family owned Daisy for 5 years, the husband was the one to gain the most trust and worked with her the most. Sadly, two major medical incidents made it too difficult for him to work with her any longer. Daisy was with other horses, but the family felt she had more to offer than just being out to pasture. They contacted DCER in hopes that we would be able to further her rehabilitation consistently. She shows clear signs of fear of humans but allows staff to get close and show a little hands-on affection. We’re giving her a little time to settle into her new home at the Rescue and gain the trust of staff.

Fall 2024 Update:
Daisy has graduated to being in a pin with some other horses. Our trainer is working with her on the ground. Her trust and confidence are growing, and we look forward to seeing her continue to improve.

We are dedicated to providing Daisy with the care and support she needs to thrive. Stay tuned for updates on Daisy’s journey as she gets settled into her new home with us at DCER!
