Maya

Maya is a 16yo (2008) Thoroughbred Mare that came to DCER in December of  2022. Maya is off the track and was later used as a recipient before being sent to slaughter. She was rescued from being shipped to Mexico by an investigator and a consultant based out of New Mexico. After being rescued she spent some time with the agent and showed to be very kind, energetic, and had a great deal of potential. Since arriving at DCER, she has some neurological issues that we haven’t been able to fully diagnose, but she is thriving with the help of supplements and proper care. Maya is kind and easy to be around on the ground. She halters, leads, and loves grooming.
