Our Volunteer Program has grown by leaps and bounds! An average of 400 - 500 people have come through our weekly Volunteer Program since 2012. Not only do individuals and families attend, area agencies and schools also send clients and students interested in our mission. All horses at Dove Creek are groomed, facilities are cleaned and people learn all about horses, safety, and the many benefits of being around horses.
Led By Horses Program
Led By Horses program - Equine Facilitated Learning and Coaching Or EFLC has grown with several offerings by Laurie Higgins-Kerley and her team of facilitators, serving individual clients as well as small groups . They have held workshops and retreats on topics such as Grief, Navigating Transitions, and finding your Soul’s purpose. EFLC is an experiential journey where the horse, as co-teacher, assists people in identifying where they are in life and what steps are necessary to move forward, revealing their path with heart. Deepening emotional intelligence, self awareness, and purpose, partnering with Horse inspires compassionate and courageous action resulting in the cultivation of authentic power and influence
Our Sponsor Program is a crucial aspect to our success. Sponsoring is a unique opportunity to make a difference by directly helping one of our horses. Your donation will help provide for board, medical treatment, rehabilitation, training, and other costs that are directly associated with the care of your sponsored horse. This is a great way for people or businesses to have more personal contact with a horse. It costs $300/ month/ horse for full care or $3600/year/horse and we appreciate all levels of giving - whatever suits your budget.
Our Training Program is no only key to the success of the horses but a unique facet of our organiazation. Most rescues are unable to provide training but at Dove Creek we offer this to ensure better and lasting placement of horses ready for adoption.
In 2017, we started an Internship Program for High School and College(AC and WTAMU) students. Interns gather experience in all areas of the non-profit - from horse care and feeding to administrative duties.
